“ Our long national nightmare is over …”
I know this is premature.
I know I should wait until January and the Biden inaugural ceremony - but I have always been a victim of my own impatience.
When Gerald Ford assumed the White House, as Richard Nixon and family flew - in disgrace - back to California. He addressed the U.S. and the world. What he said that was remembered (prior to pardoning Nixon for his crimes):
"Our long national nightmare is over."
Well, can you feel it? Can you feel the grip of President Bozo slipping away? Sure, he won't really go away as he has used his base to bully the GOP and half the public - and maybe he will run again in 4 years - but that isn't today's concern.
I feel now that he has in essence, waved a white flag and opened the door to transition and a renewed faith in American democracy and that ... "Our long national nightmare is over.
Have you noticed - it's just a tiny bit easier to face the world's challenges?
